Arty Tuesday: Chrissy Lau

Just had to share these delightful illustrations from the amazingly talented Chrissy Lau. I absolutely love the the simplicity of her illustrations with its paired back palette, and gorgeous lines. Chrissy is an English born artist who now resides here in the great land of OZ and some you may recognize her work from one my personal favorite blog Garry Pepper Vintage. Live with Art

As I a creative person who loves art, fashion, and photography I consider myself to be first and foremost visual as this is the way that I most often choose to express myself, but lately the rut in my work and home life has spilled over into my creative life.

At first it slowly subsided and I figured it was just a rough patch but now it has become a bit of a concern! How do I get through this? How long is this going to last?

So to try jump this hurdle in my creative path I decided that I would spend the weekend seeking inspiration , reading, drawing, going for a walk with my camera, listening to tunes and spending some time ALONE. So many times I seem to get distracted so I think that taking some time out from the world might just help to recharge the batteries.

The J's Hottest 100 of the last 20 Years

Over the Queens Birthday long weekend  the J's played their hottest 100 of the last 20 years as voted by Australian listeners. This was a bright spot in an otherwise dreary and slow long weekend spent at work with a cold while the boy was away fishing. The rain has been on and off just enough to annoy (come on Brisbane thought this is the dry season!) and with so much going on in the city the flow at work has been more of a drizzle. Hence over two days I found solitude in some musical goodness and while there were a few surprises along the way there were so many great tracks that reminded me of good times, fun times, heartbreak and more than a little teen angst.

The Top 10

1: Oasis – Wonderwall (1995)
2: The White Stripes – Seven Nation Army (2003)
3: Jeff Buckley – Last Goodbye (1995)
4: Hilltop Hoods – The Nosebleed Section (2003)
5: The Verve – Bitter Sweet Symphony (1997)
6: Foo Fighters – Everlong (1997)
7: The Killers – Mr. Brightside (2004)
8: Powderfinger – These Days (1999)
9: Gotye – Somebody That I Used to Know {Ft. Kimbra} (2011)
10: Powderfinger – My Happiness (2000)
